Getting started
ScreenPulse uses Apple's Screen Time API to block apps, so Screen Time must be turned on (Settings → Screen Time). When you first open ScreenPulse, tap Continue on the Screen Time Access page and iOS asks whether ScreenPulse can use Screen Time.
If you skipped this or didn't allow it, open the Today or Focus tab and tap Continue on the amber “Screen Time access is off” banner. If you turned access off earlier, the button says Settings and opens iOS Settings so you can turn it back on.
Starting a focus session
Tap the round Focus button in the middle of the tab bar. Under Quick Start, tap a session (for example Laser Focus), tap Apps to Block, choose the apps, categories or websites to block, then tap the play button. One block list is shared by every session, so changing it in one place changes it everywhere.
Apps are not getting blocked
Check that you chose apps to block before starting the session, and that ScreenPulse still has Screen Time access (Settings → Screen Time → Apps with Screen Time Access). iOS enforces the blocking, so it keeps working while ScreenPulse is closed.
An app is still blocked
- After a focus session: blocks lift automatically when the session timer ends, even if ScreenPulse is closed. A normal session can be ended early with End on the session screen.
- Strict Mode sessions (Premium) can't be paused or ended early. This is by design: the session ends when its timer does. The Struggling button still works, but it adds 5 minutes rather than ending the session.
- App Limits (Premium): once the daily limit is used up, those apps stay blocked until midnight. Opening ScreenPulse does not lift them. To lift a limit sooner, turn it off in More tab → App Limits.
- Still blocked after a session ended? Open ScreenPulse once; it clears blocks left over from sessions that have already finished. As a last resort, turn ScreenPulse off under Settings → Screen Time → Apps with Screen Time Access. That removes every ScreenPulse block, App Limits included. Then open ScreenPulse and allow access again.
Scheduled reminders
Scheduled reminders (Premium) are notifications at the time you set. They never block apps by themselves: tap Start Now on the notification to begin the session. If reminders don't arrive, check that notifications are allowed for ScreenPulse in Settings → Notifications.
Why doesn't ScreenPulse show per-app usage?
Apple keeps detailed app usage private. The Screen Time report inside ScreenPulse is drawn by iOS on your device, and ScreenPulse can't read or store its numbers. Your focus stats, streak and trends come from the focus sessions you complete.
Subscriptions
ScreenPulse Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly or yearly. The yearly plan includes a 1-week free trial for eligible new subscribers. Prices are shown in your local currency in the app before you buy.
- Cancel or change plan: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → ScreenPulse. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Restore a purchase: More tab → About → Restore Purchases (or Restore Purchases on the Premium screen), signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with.
- Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Where is my data?
Everything stays on your iPhone. ScreenPulse has no account and no server, so we can't recover focus history from a deleted app. Premium is tied to your Apple Account, so Restore Purchases brings it back after a reinstall.
Privacy
ScreenPulse has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and your data is never sent to us. See the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.
